Stephany Hume is the type of teacher we all wish we’d had in elementary school. The fifth grade teacher at Sewell Elementary in Sachse, Texas, had to miss class due to an unexpected surgery. But she kept teaching from her hospital bed to make sure her students didn’t suffer any loss of learning. “I did it for the kids, I didn’t want to leave them with any gaps, so we could pick up where we left off when I got back,” said Hume.
